Sidney’s June event saw guests invited to share a "journey into a new Dimension, to see the College as you’ve never seen it before.”

Featuring two stages and twelve live acts, Dimensions promised "a world of illusion, electrified music, and all-round fun."

Connor Hiza, Co-President of the Sidney June Event, said: “It was a pleasure to be Co-President of this year’s June event. A year of hard work paid off with the successful delivery of the event. I want to thank my Co-President, Shona Lally, for her guidance, the Committee members for their continued efforts, and the College for its support over the past academic year and in the build-up to the event.

“The aim was to have Cambridge’s cheapest June Event/May Ball while still providing quality. This was achieved through good organisation and planning by the Committee, as well as through the support of our event sponsors. They have been incredible and I look forward to continuing those relationships in the future."

Shona Lally, Co-President, said: “It has been an amazing experience being Co-President of this year’s June Event. Thinking back to when I pitched the initial proposal to college council back in November, I’d always hoped that we could deliver a May Ball quality event for half the ticket price. I believe we more than achieved this and its success is an absolute testament to the hard work of the committee over the past 8 months.

“Some of the ways we accomplished this included working with entirely student bands (particularly Sidney bands including Orange Corridor and the BNOCs) and taking the bold decision to go with a new local production company, J R Light and Sound. They not only allowed us to deliver such a cost-effective event but were fantastic to work with and truly made Sidney look its best.“

Members of Sidney were able to purchase tickets for £79.50. with a reduced rate of £39.50 for those in financial difficulty.

The event also partnered with May Week Alternative (MWA), a student-run charity movement. MWA encourages students to give to charity. All donations to MWA are then match-funded. In addition, Cambridge RAG, the biggest charitable student society in the city, provided volunteers and also took donations on the night.

Dimensions, held at Sidney on Saturday 17 June, sought to ‘explore illusions, alternate realities and the unexpected.’

Connor Hiza: “Many are unaware of what lies behind the walls of Sidney, despite being so central to Cambridge, so the theme was intended to play on the mystery of the gardens.”

The event started with a reception attended by VIP ticket holders, and six visiting alpacas. The full event featured a rodeo bull, laser tag in Hall and a time trial attraction in the Fellows’ Garden. There were four bars, two stages and six food vendors, all local to Cambridge.

Next year will see the return of Sidney’s amazing May Ball.

Connor Hiza: “Being Co-President of this event has been an unforgettable experience, something I will cherish and remember for the rest of my life. We have received great feedback on the event and its organisation. I look forward to the organisation of next year’s May Ball alongside my new Co-President, Eliot Patient.”
