Professor Cox is Professor of Medicine at the University of Cambridge, with clinical responsibility in acute internal medicine and metabolic diseases at Addenbrooke's Hospital. He qualified in medicine in 1971 and has conducted scientific investigations principally on inborn errors of metabolism. His recent research has focused on lysosomal storage disorders (LSD) - their molecular pathogenesis and treatment. Professor Cox was the principal investigator of the first clinical trial using miglustat to treat Gaucher's disease. Additionally, he serves on the board of several journals and is an Editor of the Oxford Textbook of Medicine.
