Sandra Flood recently took off the rubber gloves to enjoy a happy retirement after a tremendous 25 years’ service to the College. Thank you for everything, Sandra!

Sandra joined Sidney’s Housekeeping team back in November 1997, and since then has seen four Sidney Masters take on the headship. Sandra’s nearest and dearest gathered in the Old Kitchen to wish her well and thank Sandra for her hard work and loyalty over the years as she heads off to enjoy retirement. Sandra’s sister, daughter and granddaughter also happen to be her Sidney co-workers and they were all there to celebrate a job well done.

Domestic Bursar, Kathryn Smart, gave a lovely speech to the group where she highlighted Sandra’s hard work and honesty. Kathryn noted that the Pavate Fellows lived on the staircase that Sandra looked after, and they all had a real fondness for Sandra. One Pavate Fellow brought his mother in to meet her, and she has had numerous invitations to visit them in India. They have a special book where they share their experiences of Cambridge and the incoming Fellow was always told affectionally about Sandra.

The stories, insights and expertise that is offered up by our longest serving members to the newer recruits in our community is invaluable. Sandra will remain a valued Sidney member and we hope to see her again soon around the Sidney gardens.
