The London Marathon is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and will mark the occasion by going virtual. Professor Richard Penty will be one of up to 45,000 runners to take on this year’s challenge.

In response to the pandemic situation, this year’s marathon runners have been invited to take on the 26.2-mile challenge from home. The 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon takes place on Sunday 4 October.

Richard has chosen to run (and in his own words, “very slowly”) the 26.2 miles to Wimpole Hall and back to Sidney to raise additional funding for our students' needs arising from the COVID crisis. This funding will top up additional hardship, pastoral and mental health support in College.
