Professor Rosamond McKitterick, Emeritus Fellow at Sidney, will be taking part in the Musicians for Ukraine live performance of the Brahms Requiem in aid of the Red Cross.

Along with the rest of Collegiate Cambridge, members of Sidney have watched with horror Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the loss of life that has resulted.  Our thoughts are with all the people of Ukraine, both those who are under attack in their homes and cities, as well as the hundreds of thousands who are now refugees.  They are also with those Russian citizens who are taking a brave stand to protest against the war. As a College we will be offering accommodation to the Council of At-Risk Academics to assist an academic displaced by the conflict.

120 musicians in Cambridge are coming together at 3.30pm on Saturday 19 March to perform the Brahms Requiem (in German) in aid of the Red Cross to show support for all of those suffering the awful effects of the invasion.

It will be conducted by Howard Williams and led by violinist Steve Bingham.

The group are hoping to raise £15,000 in aid of the Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
