Professor Kenneth Armstrong’s expertise on constitutional law continues to be in high demand as he provides his take on Scotland’s ‘next steps’ for independence.

Professor Kenneth Armstrong, Sidney’s Vice-Master and Fellow in Law, has written a blog post on the recent reference to the UK Supreme Court of legal questions relating to a second Scottish independence referendum; issues discussed in The Guardian piece, ‘Sturgeon faces tough hurdles on road to Scottish independence vote’ in which Professor Armstrong is also quoted.

Armstrong’s blog post, ‘A Matter for Another Day? Will the Supreme Court Accept the Lord Advocate’s Independence Referendum Reference?’ probes the use of the legal avenue chosen to bring the issue to the Supreme Court and whether the Supreme Court might have cause to reflect on whether it should accept the reference.

There is plenty of activity around constitutional law in other areas too, with Armstrong recently appearing before the Scottish Parliament’s constitution committee to give evidence on how to amend EU law that now forms part of UK law after Brexit.
