Tutor, mentor, colleague, and friend: Donald Green will be remembered by many within the Sidney community.
You are invited to join us, either in person or online, to a Memorial Service in Chapel on Sunday 12th March 2023 at 2pm, followed by tea in Hall at 3pm to celebrate his life. During this event we will honour Donald who served Sidney in many capacities, including as Fellow in Engineering, and Senior Tutor, and was actively engaged in the Stephenson Society.
In tribute to his extraordinary commitment to the College, we are also raising money for the Donald Green Fund.
Each year, Sidney admits 10 - 12 undergraduate and 7 - 10 postgraduate Engineering students. The hard work of Donald Green, among others, has ensured that our Engineers’ time at Sidney is enriched with regular opportunities to hear speakers across industries, connect with alumni and enjoy social events with each other. Much of this is now continued by the Stephenson Society, which remains one of the best-established societies at Sidney. As a result, Sidney’s Engineers flourish, going on to be academics, consultants, CEOs, civil servants, cryptocurrency investors, and one even Master of Sidney!
We want to continue this legacy in Donald Green’s name to ensure that the most talented Engineers of the future benefit from these opportunities. Since being established in 2012, the Donald Green Fund has provided 11 bursaries as well as supporting world-leading Engineering research.
How Sidney can use the Donald Green Fund
£1,500 annual Stephenson Society event
£3,500 bursary for an Engineering student for a year
£7,500 Engineering taster day for 50 students from areas of low participation in Higher Education.
